Paris me manquait

I had such a great time in Barcelona with wonderful people!
Friday morning, Danielle and I tried going to the beach for breakfast, but it was very windy.  Needless to say, our breakfast didn't last long. We stopped for a cappuccino and then went over to the Cathedral of Barcelona for a visit. We had lunch at a mexican restaurant.  I had a strawberry margarita, guacamole and chips, and chicken and cheese quesadillas.  Everything was delicious!

We walked around La Rambla just exploring the area and later that afternoon, we met up with Shelby and her 5 friends who all study in Madrid.  We did some shopping with them and split up for dinner and to get ready for the night.  We went to their apartment to hang out for a while before we went out for the night. Our first stop of the night was a bar called Chupitos. It is famous for 2 euro shots. It was a lot of fun. After, we tried to find a club called Opium, but we weren't to successful at first. We stopped in some other random club for a little and then ventured to search for Opium again.  We were on a guest list up until 1:30am, but it was a little after that so I didn't think we'd get in.  One of the girls checked and said we'd be fine, but the line wasn't moving at all.  Danielle and I decided to get McDonald's and call it a night. Good thing we didn't stay anyways because they weren't allowed in since they were wearing open toed shoes...dumb!

Saturday morning and afternoon, we toured the gothic area and saw all the roman walls of the city.  It was a very cloudy day and was supposed to rain, but luckily only rained for a few seconds!  We stopped in for lunch at some cafe since they were going to give us free drinks.  It was a good lunch as well!  The service was pretty slow so we were there for a VERY long time.  Also, when I wanted to pay with my credit card, they told me they weren't sure how to use the machine.  Uh what!?  It was a BAR!  Pretty sure I could even figure it out.  After lots of confusion, they got someone who knew what he was doing.

We went down to the beach as well just to walk around and go out on the rocks.  It was a lot of fun, but would have been so much better if the sun was shining!

We got ready for the night again and headed over to Shelby's.  We stayed there for a little and then headed out to another Ice Bar!  This one was different than London's, being that our included drinks were much bigger and stronger, but the bar itself was very tiny.  It was still so much fun!

We went over to the club area again and found another random place to go to for a little.  We were looking for a club called Razzmatazz, but when we finally found it, they weren't opening until 1am.  Since we had 45minutes to kill, what did we do? Eat of course!  We went to a bar for guacamole and nachos!  I even was able to speak Spanish to the waiter! Shortly after, it was finally time to head to the club.  When we got to the door, there was a 15 euro cover, so a few of us decided not to go. I was tired anyways. So we headed back and slept forever!

We went to mass at the cathedral at noon on Sunday. It was interesting. Not sure if I liked it. The church is set up in a different way, so it was hard to hear and see from where we were sitting. I felt very distant. But it was still nice. The chorus was singing songs in English and when I received communion, the nun said "le corps de christ" which is the same thing in French. Catalan is an interesting language. Almost seems French, with a twist of Spanish.

I also learned that in Spain, they do not pronounce "gracais" how we are taught in school. They pronounce it like "grathias.". Thought that was really cool!

After mass, more mexican food!  Then we headed over to Park Guell to meet up with everyone. What a park!  It was amazing. We saw Gaudi's actual house from the outside and a lot of cool structures he built. The view of the city was unbelievable as well.

Our next stop was another one of Gaudi's houses,
Casa Batllo.  We toured this one as well.  The architecture is so incredible and it is so modern for being built in the early 1900s!  I was truly amazed. It was money well worth spent!

Last and final stop for the sight seeing was Sagrada Famillia, a church built by Gaudi. It is so unique from the outside, but even more special inside.  The architecture is just amazing. I was I was that creative!  We waited in a pretty long line to get in, but it was well worth it. Pretty sure this was my favorite church I have seen so far. It was so bright inside with so many modern features. The stained glass windows were so vibrant and wonderful colors. Even the alter was really interesting!  The depiction of the crucifix was such a modern interpretation. I loved it. It was also funny how all of the little chapels around the alter were so modern they had televisions in them!  Usually you just see tons of gold, but not here!  So many different things.

My feet hurt SO bad from walking everywhere, so we split up to rest for a while. Then, we had a nice dinner at the place we went to the first night with everyone. I had the sirloin steak with the chimichurri sauce. Yum! Everything was delicious for our last meal in Barcelona!

We headed to bed a little early since we had to get up at 6am for our journey to the airport. Check in was easy and my bag was small enough! Definitely lucked out with the baggage fees :). The people on Easy Jet were so so friendly! They kept checking on everyone and it was super cute.  American Airlines better step up their game...

When we arrived at CDG, we stopped at Paul but I ordered a sandwich on olive bread. Ew. Just had to pick the middle out. I should be dieting anyways after this vacation. We also couldn't get the darn ticket machines to work to recharge our NaviGos.  We tried in two different metros as well.  I just wanted to talk to a person!  Technology sometimes is terrible...I had to go to my school stop to get mine done. What a pain, though.

It feels good to be back in Paris! I can't believe I only have 19 days left here.  Time truly does fly.

I will be posting tons of pictures in a bit for those of you who would rather look at pictures than read all this nonsense! :D
A bientôt!
