We had a great last night and day in Florence. Last night for dinner, a few of us went to get super good paninis at a cute little sandwich shop. I had pecorino and prosciutto with pesto on delicious bread. Maybe the best panini I've ever had. We stopped at a mini market on the way back to by drinks for the night and we picked up what we thought was a bottle of white rum or vodka. Unfortunately when I opened it, I almost cried. We bought something that smelled JUST like ouzo. Sad night...
We headed out to a bar called Kikuya and I tried the famous dragoon drink. It was a really strong beer, but wasn't too terrible. We had a big group of people, so it was a lot of fun. Everyone we met was so so nice. That's what I miss in Paris. Having a really tight group of friends since they all live together or close by.
Of course I wanted a late night pizza, so we stopped there and headed back to the flat around 3/4am. I was so tired, so I didn't wake up until 11:30! Danielle and I found a little cafe for some pasta. I had spaghetti with tomatoes and pesto. Can't go wrong with anything you order in Italy! We headed over to Accademia to see the David and surprisingly there was no line! We were excited at first, but after 40minutes of waiting to be let in, I was getting restless! It was a bit absurd since they rope the entrance off and let people in the museum in waves. The signs were confusing too; we weren't sure if we needed tickets before or what was going on. Luckily, it all worked out and we got to see the David. It was so huge! I just can't imagine the work that went into it. Intense stuff.
The other things in the museum were mostly all from churches in Florence. Everything was very biblical and really beautiful. It only took us about an hour to see mostly everything since it's pretty tiny. Definitely worth the money.
We headed back to get Matt and he took us to Piazzale Michelangelo. It was a long walk/hike up a big hill, but we had such a beautiful view of Florence. I liked it better than the top of the Duomo and it was free! Can't beat that. It was such a beautiful day out as well. The sun felt so good and music was playing! It was just so cute. We stayed there for quite a while and headed to get cannolis and paninis for our trip to Barcelona.
We arrived at the airport and the dumb airlines didn't open check in for a really long time. We didn't understand why! I never had to wait for a check in to open. Oh well, things are different abroad :p
The people in the airport were so friendly! Everything went smoothly :) There were cute little kids running around to keep me entertained. I couldn't believe that this one woman was shushing this baby that was crying. How rude is that?! She kept making noises and shushing him! She wasn't even sitting close by. I was hoping shed be sitting by them on the plane, but NOPE! She was in our row. Just our luck. Guess I jynxed it.
We had to take a bus to the plane, so you'd think itd be more than a 1minute walk. But nope. We couldn't believe they bused us to the plane. And I thought Americans were lazy!
The plane ride was very quick! We found the bus easily as well when we got to the airport. The Barcelona airport was so nice! Much bigger than I expected. The bus ride took about 20 minutes and took us to the main square, Catalunya. We figured out how to walk to our little room, but still couldn't find the right street. I called the owner and he came to meet us. He is so nice and I am pretty sure he is Australian. The room is really cute as well! We are going to walk over to the beach tomorrow and spend the day in the spanish sun!
Bedtime for me.
Adios amigos!
