Musée d'Orsay et le shopping!

Yesterday, I went to the musée d'Orsay!  For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it is an old train station that was converted into a museum.  It wasn't too big; only 3 floors were opened for viewing due to renovation.  The top floor had all the impressionist paintings, which I enjoyed the most.  The other two floors were filled with some paintings and sculptures and other random historical things.  We got a good laugh in when we stopped at the bathroom and couldn't figure out how to get back into the museum.  We seem to always get lost in the wrong spots, so we were directed by the security guards to go through some doors and press some buttons and then, voila! We were in the middle of an exhibit.  C'est ma vie!  But, we probably finished the whole museum in about 2 hours, and then headed to a cafe by school.

Class was fine again.  We learned about famous French people and watch some short films on a few of them.  We also looked at this website called ecouterparis.net where you can listen to all the sounds of Paris.  It is pretty neat!  I had to stay after class to have a 30 minute 'talk' with the professor about random things.  He's the one who will place me in my French level, so it was sort of an evaluation.  It went rather well, though!

On my way home, I stopped to buy a baguette! I felt so French and it only cost me .90euro! :)  I made some dinner and then started booking trips for spring break.  We have off from April 13th and don't go back to school until May 2nd.  WOW!  We planned a trip to Athens, Mykonos, Rome, Florence, and Barcelona for that break.  I'm so excited!  We just have to figure out all the minor details now, like, oh...where we are going to stay!

We already have our winter break trip booked to Ireland for February 25th- March 4th.  We'll be staying in Galway for a few nights with friends from school, and then head off to a hostel in Dublin to explore the city!

This morning, I went to the open air market and bought some fruit and vegetables.  I successfully ordered everything in French!  Unfortunately, the meat man wasn't there so I may have to stop at the regular supermarket to get some proteins later on this week!

Before class today, we went to the LongChamp store.  January and July are the months of sales in Paris, so I have to do all my shopping soon.  I bought two different totes; one for class and one for travel!  The travel one was on sale, but unfortunately the other tote was not.  Luckily, however, these bags are about 50 USD cheaper than in the US.  So I got a deal anyways :)

After class, which was quite boring today, we had wine and snacks with the professors that will be teaching our classes this semester. They each gave a brief description of the course and the work that we will have to do.  I was glad we got to meet them and hear what the class would entail before registering!

I finished my baguette from yesterday when I got home being I am having dinner with my family tonight.  Who knows what meal that will be! I probably won't even know after eating it.  At least I can practice my French a little bit...

Bisouxxx!
