It was a beautiful week in Paris! The past two days were over 70. I love it!
Tuesday I taught English again at my school. It went really well. The kids are so great. I love it so much and am glad I decided to take this class! We discussed cars, driving ages, drinking and driving, stereotypes, and universities. Luckily, they talked a lot. They all speak really well !
On Wednesday, I had to go explore a random neighborhood that my conversation gave me. It was a strange neighborhood to say the least. It was so quiet; I felt like I wasn't even in Paris. Nothing too exciting happened there but we did have to find people to talk to. I went into the public pool and asked one of the workers a few questions about the neighborhood and he was very nice. Then, I stopped in a bakery to ask another person and she told me she wouldn't answer my questions....One of the first bad encounters I had with a French person. Oh well, c'est la vie.
Wednesday night, our program took us to see a play called Chocolat Clown Negre. It was a play about racism in France but also had some acrobatics in it. It was pretty entertaining even though I missed a lot of the dialogue. OOPS!
After class yesterday, we stopped at the luxembourg gardens and got icecream after class. It was too beautiful to go home just yet! I saw that the gardens closed at 6:15pm, but figured that was just a general estimation. I was wrong. They go around blowing whistles right when the clock struck 6:15pm and got everyone out! It was crazy. I had dinner with my host family yesterday night; we had fajitas! They were really good. I still didn't figure out who the random kid living in the attic of the house is. The French don't tell you anything! And now he has a 103 degree fever...Let's hope I don't get sick!
Today started off with a trip to the greek restaurant for a bite to eat. Yum! Then we went over to Pere Lachaise cemetery, where Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde are buried. There are plenty of other famous people, but we just stopped at these two gravesites. Like usual, it took us forever to find them but we realized after a while we were looking at the map wrong. Figures....At least it was a beautiful day!
Next, we headed over to the gardens again. First though, we needed some Starbucks. I tried a mango passion tea frappuccino. It was delicious! I hope they have them in the states. I also bought a really cute Paris Starbucks mug. The cashier rang up the price wrong so I saved 2 euros! WOO. We sat at the gardens for a while, just laying in the sun. Nothing could be better.
We were going to walk over to the Eiffel Tower to have a picnic, but realized that it would have taken us all afternoon. We stopped for a baguette and hopped on the metro and arrived at the Eiffel Tower. AH I was in paradise. We sat on the lawn to the side of the tower and just enjoyed the beautiful sight and sounds of Paris. I couldn't picture myself studying abroad in any other city. Paris is just too perfect. We topped the wonderful day off with crepes au fromage! :) I'm a happy girl!
It's going to be a long weekend. Leaving very early for Brussels in the morning and staying up all night at Sensation 2012! YAY. We'll be back in Paris around 2ish on Sunday. Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saint Patrick's Day!
