Rosée à la Chandeleur, hiver à sa dernière heure

Happy Crêpe day everyone! February 2nd is a Catholic holiday, known as Candlemas, to commemorate the purification of the Virgin Mary and the presentation of baby Jesus.  I believe the French eat crêpes today since a crêpe resembles the host at church...or it could just be an excuse to eat excessive amounts of crêpes? That works too!

Good news for the day. This is the first day since I got here that I didn't spend even a fraction of a euro! Yay I'm making progress :D

Besides a full day of classes, today was SO cold.  I am jealous of all of you enjoying the 60 degrees weather at home.  I literally haven't been as cold as I was today in such a long time.  The only time I can remember being colder was when I thought it'd be a great idea to plunge into the ocean when there was snow on the beach...

Of course, I had my architecture class today and we had to take a trip to Notre Dame and examine the architecture of the building FROM THE OUTSIDE.  We luckily went in for a little, but we were freezing for a majority of the trip and I was too cold to even look up at what she was pointing at.  Oops.  I did learn a bit though, so that's all that matters! I am starting to get annoyed because every time I go to Notre Dame, it's so unbelievably cold.  Definitely not climbing it until the spring!  They had that part closed today because of the weather!  Goodness, France, get back on track to spring please!

The metro was having a lot of problems today, too.  Luckily, I didn't have many issues, but 10 people were missing from my class this morning because of the problems!  The only problem I had on the metro was the man next to me who obviously didn't notice that the bench of metro was divided into four seats and was basically sitting on top of me.  And you know there's going to be a problem when a couple, of any age, gets on your train.  PDA at its finest.

I had dinner with my family tonight due to crêpe day! I wasn't sure if we were going to have crêpes for dinner or just dessert, and I quickly found out that they were just for dessert!  For dinner, we had some tomatoes and avocado, spinach salad, potato chips (that my host mom heated in the oven) and chicken.  The food is always so good and so healthy! Until you get to dessert...Wow, these crêpes were the best ones I've ever had.  Nothing like homemade!  I had 2 nutella and whipped cream crêpes.  Delicious!  The whipped cream is even 100% better than the US.  Definitely going to lose so much weight when I come home and don't like any of the sweets I used to like.  Guess that may be a blessing in disguise!
